I can’t wait to take out every single light bulb in my house! I really hate them. If you place your hand close to one you can feel how inefficient they are by the heat given off. I hate them because I know that there is a better way and it is coming soon. I’m not talking compact florescents either.
LED lights. They are making their way into flashlights, automotive tail lights, traffic lights, etc.
Here is an article about how the LED Evolution could replace light bulbs.
researchers at the Lighting Research Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., said they had boosted the light output per watt of a white LED to almost six times that of an incandescent light bulb, beating even a compact fluorescent bulb in efficiency.
Current white LEDs will last up to 50,000 hours, about 50 times as long as a 60-watt bulb. That’s almost six years if they’re on constantly.
Maybe if I fill my house with LED lights, I can finally stop following my wife and kids around the house turning off the lights! Think of all of my energy *that* would save! 😉
Bring on the economy of scale to bring the prices down! We’ll be telling our grandkids how we, back in the day, used to have incandescent light bulbs.
