I’m working for a client doing ASP (Classic) with some COMs against a SQL Server back end. All of a sudden IE7 has a problem with the login page with javascript on one of the servers, but not the others.
I’m on a Linux laptop and I have left my Beyond Compare behind on my [...]

My friend, Russell Campbell, sent me this link this morning.
Gates talks up declarative modeling language effort

I’m so happy I’m getting off the M$ B$.
Here’s my favorite quote that I think says it all: “It’s something that will change software development…”
Of course this is a gem too:
“… a lot of business logic can be done [...]

Yes, it’s true. I get much of my information based on blogs and links to other sites from blogs. Considering that most of the mainstream news is the same from site to site to site, I only need to read one news site, and I feel as if I’ve read them all. [...]

Cathy Poutney blogged the other day about Foxpro User Groups. Evidently they’re having some trouble keeping things going.
We’re lucky to have a very active Foxpro Users Group here in Atlanta. http://afug.com I think we continue to be successful because of our group effort. Russell Campbell is a great president, partly [...]

Here is a short but sweet article on REALbasic from InfoWorld.
The main gist of the article is that RB2008R1 will be gaining the features of introspection and possibly some web features. What I’m wondering is if these two things are directly related. To create an AJAX version of a RB form, say, a program could [...]

When transitioning from one language to another, there’s always an awkward time where you’re thinking like the old language, and struggling with the new. In the past it has been of help to create functions in the new language to help the transition process. Eventually the “transition” function set is abandoned for the [...]

I dictate that we run MEPIS Linux in our house. It’s a great balance between usability by using KDE, open-sourced software, and free software. I like it.
MEPIS comes with KGhostView and KPDF for PDF reading. It used to come with the Adobe Acrobat Reader but I think they didn’t include that in the latest versions. [...]

I just wanted to give you a friendly reminder that the next price bump or FoxForward is coming up this weekend. Either way, it is still great value at $450 by this weekend, or $550 thereafter.
We’d love to have you attend the conference. There will be plenty of Fox presentations, as well as [...]

Today, for no apparent reason whatsoever, I’m going to list what I consider the top technologies of the last 40 years. Just out of the blue. No reason. Last 40 years. What were the top technologies to be developed or exploited? Let’s begin… in no particular order:
The Microwave Oven. [...]

I met Paul at the REAL World conference this year. Very sharp guy.
Paul says that M$ isn’t dead, it’s gone off it’s rails insane. Read more at his blog at Software Made Simple.
The Visual Foxpro crowd is left adrift same as the VB6 crowd that Paul mentions. M$ expects us to enter their newly created [...]
