A sad thing happened on the way to FoxForward

Janice was our hotel coordinator for FoxForward 2006 and again this year.  Janice and I had scheduled a meeting for yesterday to go over the room layout and our needs for the conference.  Janice was to have just returned from an extended vacation to Canada to see some family and friends, and forced our meeting out to after her trip.  Evidently, while in Canada with her husband and son, they were involved in a head on automobile crash.  Janice's husband died in the crash.

My thoughts and best wishes go with her and her family.  I often busy myself with life items and forget how fragile and precious life is.  It can be gone in a blink of an eye.  Even after horrible events such as this, life continues on as well.  This will be an extremely painful period for Janice and her family.  Ask me how I know.

The Hilton Garden Inn put me together with Amanda, who will be taking over coordinating the hotel facilities for our event, and we went over the details.

We'll have our event, laugh, discuss and debate out technology perspectives and speculations just as we would have.  In the back of my mind I'll be thinking of how precious and fragile life is as we gather for FoxForward 2007.
