LCD Display Prices are Falling

I've been drooling over LCD displays lately. 17" LCD Display prices have been falling and they are approaching $200. 19" LCD prices have fallen where there are several for under $300. This is about a $50 drop in prices in the last couple of months.

This price point is very compelling and there is no real reason to purchase CRT monitors for serious computer users anymore. I run my desktop dual montior with two 19" monitors (the equivalant of 17" LCD monitors) and they pour out the heat. I measured 100 degrees coming out of one of them and 110 degrees out of the other. That's a lot of heat being put into my office during the summer. It's not too bad for the few weeks we have winter, however. :)

I think I might hold off in replacing these monitors with 19" LCD's however. After Christmas, there should be another price drop and I can use the extra warmth during winter.

My one beef with LCD monitors is that you can't really change the resolution and have it look good. The monitors have a native resolution and you better run it at that resolution. Even the 19" LCDs have a native resolution of 1280 x 1024. It'd be nice to go to 1600 x 1200 like my laptop has. With dual monitors it's not a necessity however.
