Programming Jobs Losing Luster in U.S.

Programming Jobs Losing Luster in U.S.

The world is changing. No one can stop it but it's been interesting what has been happening in the programming world. There has been a huge outsourcing of projects to third world countries. I think the vast majority of those initial projects have failed. I think companies have learned from their mistakes and an increasing number of outsourced projects are beginning to succeed.

It's not all doom and gloom for American programming however. A certain percentage, and the percentage will always be high, will keep their jobs in the USA. There's nothing like local contact, local language, and face-to-face contact.

I need to keep on top of technology, and be good enough that people will pay me for my services. The times are changing however. The trick is not to fight the changes, but to identify them and adjust.

More than anything: Look for someone that has a complex problem. If you can solve their problem, they will pay you for that work.
